Arsenal sign Spain international

|

MonrealOver the summer his future was in doubt, but not anymore – Nacho Monreal has signed a new long-term deal to remain at Arsenal.

The Spain international has been a consistent performer for the past two seasons for Arsene Wenger’s side and has firmly pushed Kieran Gibbs aside to become the club’s first-choice left-back after enduring a difficult start to his Arsenal career.

There was speculation over his future during the summer as there was no sign of a new deal or a contract extension. As a result, the 29-year-old was being linked with a move away from Arsenal, with reports suggesting Athletic Bilbao were keen on his services.

However, rumours have finally been put to bed with Monreal putting pen to paper on a new deal.

Monreal has featured in all of Arsenal’s 22 Premier League games so far this season and has made over 80 appearances for the cub since his arrival from Malaga back in 2013.

It will be a huge boost to Arsenal and the fans knowing that one of their most consistent performers, and probably best players last season, is staying put.
