A summer move for him makes more sense

|

Adrien RabiotAdrien Rabiot is on the verge of signing for Marseille on loan this January, with Arsenal stalling on a move for the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.

Reports this month have claimed Arsenal are interested in the 20-year-old, who is desperate to leave PSG due to his lack of playing time, but it is now thought that the Gunners will wait until the summer to launch a bid.

With Arsenal sealing a £5 million deal for Mohamed Elneny last week, Arsene Wenger looks to be unwilling to add yet another midfielder to the squad this month.

Wenger does have more midfield options available to him now than he did a few weeks ago, with Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky back from their respective injuries, as well as utilizing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the middle of the park recently.

As a result, the potential of signing of Rabiot looks to have been called off, and rightly so. Instead, the young Frenchman will more than likely stay in Ligue 1 with Marseille, who are keen to acquire him on a temporary basis, according to the Daily Star.

A summer move for the highly-rated midfielder looks to be in the offing for Arsenal now, with the departures of Arteta, Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini all out of contract at the end of the season, which would free a space for Rabiot.
