aleksandr kokorinThere was real interest in Aleksandr Kokorin from Arsenal but there isn’t anymore, says Konstantin Sarsania.

The 24-year-old was linked with a move to the Emirates over the summer as Arsene Wenger appeared to want to strengthen his attacking options before the season commenced.

Reports suggested Arsenal had made an approach to sign Kokorin on a loan deal but the Russian club were unwilling to let him leave on a temporary basis, resulting in the striker remaining at Dynamo Moscow.

The Gunners were once again linked with a move for Kokorin in this month’s transfer window, but the club’s former sporting director Sarsania says the Russian international’s next career move remains a mystery, with Arsenal ending their interest in the player:

‘I don’t know where Kokorin will continue his career.

‘There was interest on the part of Arsenal, but now there is not.’

Arsene Wenger has only added midfielder Mohamed Elneny to his squad this month, but it remains to be seen whether the Frenchman will sign a striker in the upcoming days. One thing is for sure, Kokorin will not be joining Arsenal this season.
