Diego PerottiIt was reported a couple of days ago that Arsenal are eyeing up a January swoop for Genoa winger Diego Perotti, having sent scouts to watch his latest outing against Napoli on Sunday afternoon.

And the Gunners will be pleased to hear that the 27-year-old Argentine is uncertain what will happen during the January transfer window:

‘In the summer there was a lot of speculation, but I have always been focused on Genoa.

‘I do not know what could happen in January.’

It is believed that Genoa value Perotti at around £9 million and both Watford and Bournemouth are also keen on the Argentina international’s services.

Perotti, whose contract at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris expires in June 2018, has started eight of Genoa’s 11 Serie A games so far this season, netting and creating one goal.

It is unknown whether Arsene Wenger will strengthen his side during the January transfer window, even though many of the Emirates faithful believe the Frenchman should well do so.

The Gunners do already have a number of options on the wings, but adding Perotti’s versatility to the side would be beneficial. Predominantly a left winger, the Argentine can also play on the opposite flank and with Theo Walcott viewed now as a centre-forward, there could be a place for the Genoa man in this current Arsenal squad.
