Joel CampbellJoel Campbell intends to fight for his place in the Arsenal first-team having featured in the club’s last four games.

Despite talk of a move away from the Emirates and spending the majority of his Arsenal career on loan, Campbell has made the most of the club’s injury crisis, starting back-to-back Premier League games for the first time and also bagging his first league goal against Swansea last month.

And the 23-year-old is ready to capitalise on the opportunity presented to him:

‘I’m an Arsenal player and I’m very happy here. I’m fighting to achieve my aims and hope to stay here for a long time.

‘Obviously, as a player you always want to play but we have lots of very good players here, so you have to be patient and make the most of your opportunity when it comes around.

‘I’m trying to take advantage of my opportunity but I know that what happens next is up to the manager. As I’ve said, I’m just focusing on playing and performing as well as possible and the rest is up to him.’

The Costa Rica international had done well filling in for the injured Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but with the England duo set to return from their injuries after the international break, will Campbell be able to keep his position in the side?

You would like to think that Campbell would keep his place in the starting XI when we travel to West Brom on the 21st of November as he has impressed.

However, if Walcott and Chamberlain do return and are available for the game against West Brom, I believe Arsene Wenger will replace Campbell for either one of them.
