Who’d be in your starting XI to play Swansea?

Arsene WengerArsenal take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, with the Gunners without a number of first-team players available.

The Gunners’ last outing resulted in a 3-0 loss to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup, and to add insult to injury, Arsene Wenger lost Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to injury.

The England duo join Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky on the treatment table, with Wenger now short of options on the flank for at least a month.

With this in mind, how should Arsenal line up against Garry Monk’s Swansea this afternoon?

Well here is how I think we should play it:

Cech

Bellerin        Gabriel         Koscielny         Monreal

Cazorla         Coquelin

Sanchez         Ozil         Gibbs

Giroud

The back five speak for themselves, while the pairing of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla has been effective thus far this season.

Because we are short of right wingers at the moment, Alexis Sanchez has to take up this position – simple.

Wenger could do a few things with the left flank, like swapping Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs around or even play Mesut Ozil in this position. But the German is more influential behind the striker and Gibbs, for me, is better going forward than defending, so this is why I put the England international in the left wing role.

The assist master Ozil behind our only available striker Olivier Giroud.

A more than capable side of picking up a result at Swansea later today.

Move cazorla to the right, have chambers as the holding midfielder with coquelin just ahead of him. Coquelin’s passing is certainly good enough for him to be thought of as just a holding midfielder. He also has an excellent engine and will be able to get up and down the field no problem. Long term I want to see Sanchez as our main striker as he is our best finisher. This then allows a spot for wilshere wide left and ramsey /walcott/ chamberlain wide left

Full of errors above. Should say more than just a holding midfielder, and walcott et al should be wide right
