Is he Wenger’s only option?

Kieran GibbsArsene Wenger is considering pushing left-back Kieran Gibbs further up the field with the Frenchman short on attacking options.

The Gunners now have eight players out with injury after seeing Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pick up knocks on Tuesday nights 3-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup Fourth Round, with both England forwards out until after the international break.

Chamberlain suffered a hamstring injury just three minutes into Tuesday’s game, while Walcott (the substitute) hobbled off with a calf problem about 15 minutes after, leaving Wenger with a shortage of options on the flank.

The Gunners face Swansea, Bayern Munich and Spurs before both are back in contention and now have five players who can play on the right sidelined who include Aaron Ramsey, Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky.

Wenger now has a dilemma on his hands, but it appears he is ready to play Gibbs on the left flank, a position he previously occupied before becoming a full-back and shift Alexis Sanchez over to the opposite wing.

Joel Campbell and Alex Iwobi are Wenger’s other options, but the former has failed to make an impression whilst the latter lacks experience.

With Walcott, Ramsey and Chamberlain all out, is Gibbs the right man to step in?

That is why we should have added to the squad Arsene! Our injury record is terrible and everyone gooner apart from wenger saw this coming.? Gibbs on the wing and shifting our best player out of position? Give Joel a chance at least he plays that position and if he fails then shift him out in January. Remember Arsene u said the players u bring in have to be better than what we have? So why no confidence in these players u rated so highly a few months ago? Madness total madness!
