ClickWengerThierry Henry believes this is the season Arsenal will end their Premier League trophy drought.

The last time the Gunners won the Premier League crown was when Henry led the frontline back in 2004 (the season they became invincible).

Arsene Wenger’s side have come close during the past decade but have still not managed to add another Premier League title to their trophy cabinet.

However, Henry – Arsenal’s record top scorer – believes the current crop at the Emirates possess the quality, depth and ability to once again be crowned champions of England.

Arsenal are in great domestic form and currently sit second in the Premier League table, level on points with Manchester City, and Henry reckons they have a genuine shot this season:

‘I genuinely think it is their year.

‘They are getting results against big teams now and are backing up those results after big games. That is the key.

‘Theo Walcott playing in the middle is pushing [Olivier] Giroud, and Giroud playing in the middle when Theo isn’t playing is pushing Theo. There is healthy competition there now that you need in the game.

‘Mesut Ozil, as well, has finally woken up. You know what he can do. He is an amazing player, a World Cup winner, with the touch, the vision, but he wasn’t always doing it on a daily basis with Arsenal. Now he is doing it.

‘Then you have [Santi] Cazorla. He is the brain of the team – the way he wants to play is how the team is going to play. Then there is the X-factor you always need to have to win a title – Alexis Sanchez. He is the guy that you know, when he is in tune, it is very difficult to beat Arsenal.’

The French legend finished off by commended the Gunners’ defence and signing of Cech:

‘The back four is also doing very well. [Hector] Bellerin is doing well, Nacho Monreal is showing why he is at Arsenal and Petr Cech is doing what he is supposed to.’

Arsenal very much have a genuine shot of winning this Premier League title this season.

As Henry states, we have a great bunch of players and moral looks to be high, one with superb technical ability and depth, and the signing of Cech has certainly improved the side.

However, Wenger and co. must keep this run going up until and after the hectic Christmas period. Should they do this and be in touching distance with City then they will have a great opportunity to end their Premier League trophy drought.
