Why Arsenal should sign this want-away midfielder

Victor WanyamaArsenal have until 6pm tomorrow to bring in new recruits and get rid of some dead weight too.

Most of the attention is now on Arsene Wenger to sign a new striker to help the club mount a serious title challenge this season. Four games have been played so far and only three goals have been scored, two of which were own goals and one by Olivier Giroud. It’s still early days, but many are already questioning the relaxed approach taken by Wenger to bring in a new forward, and the Frenchman now has under 24 hours to do so.

But while signing a new striker has taken centre stage for the Gunners this summer, they have yet to reinforce another area of the squad that needs reinforcing – the defensive midfield position. While we do have a number of midfielders on board already, Francis Coquelin remains our most recognisable player in this role, with Santi Cazorla sitting alongside him. And should the 23-year-old Frenchman pick up a knock and be sidelined for a number of weeks, we would be in some bother, even though we have Mikel Arteta as a replacement.

The fact is we also need to sign a defensive midfielder before tomorrow’s deadline and Arsenal should now turn their attention to Victor Wanyama after the Southampton midfielder has asked to leave St. Mary’s.

Wanyama possesses great strength on and off the ball, Premier League experience, gets stuck in and also has good awareness of his position – The 24-year-old would certainly compliment the current Arsenal side splendidly and offer that support and healthy competition that Coquelin needs.

Ronald Koeman is reluctant to let the Kenyan leave, but if Arsenal offer a good enough offer then the Dutchman may reconsider his position. Southampton have already lost Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester United this summer, who’s to say they can’t lose Wanyama before tomorrow’s deadline?

A move for the former Celtic midfield enforcer makes perfect sense, but it’s up to Wenger and co. to make the call.

Wenger will sign nothing bt unwanted players for Arsenal. This is because he knows very well that Arsenl needs aworld class striker and an experience defensive mildfielder but he is talking of kokorin the Russian and un experience player from Leicester city. Arsenal needs Cavani or Benzema

I would like to advise Mr Wenger to kindly beef up the striking position rather relying on some deadwood in the team.im tired of watching this team always struggling for honours

Don’t expect Wenger to sign Cavani or Benzema. The time is gone for such stars. Their teams don’t have time to replace them. They are so expensive and yet they may not bring the benefits.

Obviously, Wenger will not sign any players before the deadline. The same story every season.

How else could one categorize Wenger’s attitude, if not arrogance? He is delusional about the strength of the team and erroneously believed it is in a position to win the EPL title. I believe he and the Arsenal board have had their fill of playing on fans intelligence. We are waiting for Wenger’s legion of excuses of why he could not strengthen the team before the transfer window closed.
