Riyad MahrezTwo days left to go until the summer transfer window closes, and Arsene Wenger is trying to bring in a new goal-scorer after seeing his side manage to net only three goals (two of which were O.G’s) in four games so far this season.

Karim Benzema has been linked with a move to Arsenal throughout the summer, but the Frenchman made it abruptly clear that his ‘home’ is Real Madrid, dashing any hope of our club signing him before the window closes.

So now Benzema is out of the picture, reports are linking us with other potential striking targets, with Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez supposedly being tracked by Wenger following an impressive start to the season.

The 24-year-old Algerian, who can play anywhere along the front, has scored four goals in as many games for Claudio Ranieri’s side so far and has emerged as a target for the Gunners, according to the Sunday Star.

Roma and Valencia are also thought to be keen on the versatile forward but Leicester insist he is not for sale – having signed him last summer from Le Havre.

Wenger regards Mahrez highly, and on the chances signing him, the Frenchman said:

‘I can’t predict what will happen.

‘I am optimistic and we’re working on it.’

From Benzema to Mahrez. Good player, but what a massive let down from what we were reportedly chasing.
