theo walcott‘Will he? Won’t he?’ Well he has – Theo Walcott has signed a new deal to remain at Arsenal.

The 26-year-old put pen to paper on a new four-year deal earlier in the week and will earn £140k-a-week, becoming Arsenal’s highest paid player.

The England international had entered the final year of his previous deal and was also being linked with a move away from the Emirates before agreeing a new contract.

Arsene Wenger will be delighted to have wrapped up negotiations as swiftly as he and the club did as Walcott’s last deal dragged on and became a saga.

Walcott had always looked to sign a new contract after Wenger previously stated that he would use the former Southampton as a forward rather than a winger this season, but there was still a little concern in the background.

Arsenal fans will be happy to hear that Theo will be staying put, but does the winger/striker deserve to be the club’s top earner above the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez?

Theo will dislodge OG as arsenals lone striker, his raw pace will bring something all together different to the way we go forward if he stays fit and gets a few early goals I can see theo scoring 25+ upfront this season so bring it on and Wenger give him a string of games up top don’t worry about OG feelings as he’s had 3 years up front and not manged 25 goals. Awe need a Augero or Costa which we don’t have but Theo is the closest thing we possess as sanchez is needed were he plays now.

Even when fit he has been inconsistent and often a lazy player. Against teams who play high up the pitch he is lethal but without the space I don’t think he has the power or tricks required. I hope I am proved wrong as I do like Walcott on his day but not consistent enough for that kind of salary.
