Crystal Palace 1-2 Arsenal (Murray 90+4 – Cazorla pen.8, Giroud 45)

Santi Cazorla gave the Gunners an early lead from the spot after Danny Welbeck was brought down by Pape Souare in the penalty area.

And just before the stroke of half-time, Olivier Giroud struck his 50th goal and doubled Arsenal’s lead after reacting quickest when Julian Speroni fumbled Welbeck’s shot.

There were few opportunities created in the first 45 but the second produced a lot more.

Although Palace fought back hard and netted what proved to only be a consolation goal. Glenn Murray struck from close range in the fourth minute of stoppage time and could have levelled things up if his header was on target.

As it was, Arsenal won the match and had some momentum going into the Champions League game against Monaco on Wednesday night.
