Was Wenger right to loan him out?

Yaya SanogoYaya Sanogo has signed for Ajax on a season-long loan, with Arsene Wenger hoping the Frenchman can mature and refine his ability under two former Gunners.

The 22-year-old spent the second-half of last season on loan to Crystal Palace after limited opportunities at the Emirates, and Wenger is adamant that the striker needs to play in order to help his development:

‘He will join Ajax certainly, but we have not finished the paperwork,’ said Wenger.

‘He will go on loan. He is at that age where he needs to play.

‘He came to us injured and it took us a while to get him to top level.

‘I am sure it will be good for Ajax and he has an opportunity to play in the Champions League and that’s vital for his experience.

‘Dennis Bergkamp and Marc Overmars work there and we have a good relationship with them.’

Overmars is the director of sport at the Amsterdam club, while Bergkamp is assistant to head coach Frank de Boer.

Wenger is hoping Bergkamp can aide Sanogo to become a better player and more of a threat in front of goal, having just scored the once in his two years at Arsenal so far.

It was certainly the right move for Sanogo to take. The Frenchman wouldn’t have featured much for us this season, and if Wenger believes in his talent then he needs to gain more regular first-team football.

Let’s hope he has a more productive loan spell at Ajax than he did at Crystal Palace last season.

    Yes, Of course.
He is at an age whwre he needs to have a lot of playinh hours. He must not be at bench at this age.
