Kostas ManolasRoma are not willing to entertain any proposal from Arsenal for centre-back Kostas Manolas this summer, according to the Sunday People.

Manolas was linked with a move to Arsenal last summer but opted to join Roma from Olympiacos for £10.4 million.

The Gunners are understood to be in the market this summer for a new centre-back and have targeted the 24-year-old Greek, who made 40 appearances in all competitions for Roma last season.

It is believed Arsene Wenger was willing to offer up to £5.5 million plus add-ons for Manolas’ services.

But having sold the highly-rated Marquinhos to PSG in 2013 and lost the services of Medhi Benatia to Bayern Munich last summer, Roma are unwilling to lose another centre-back and will reject any offer Arsenal propose this summer for Manolas.

Although Arsenal have been linked with a few centre-backs, I think Wenger may decide against adding a new one to the squad this summer.

The Frenchman already has Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, Gabriel and also Calum Chamers to choose from, as well as Mathieu Debuchy, who can also play in this position.

It would be great to see a new centre-back come in, but I reckon Wenger will look at other areas of the squad this summer.
