Arsenal have had a £15 million bid knocked back by Juventus for Daniele Rugani, according to reports in Italy
The Gunners have been linked with a number of centre-backs already this summer and it is believed the 20-year-old is high on Arsene Wenger’s list.
And Sky Sport Italia, as reported by talkSPORT.com claims Arsenal tabled a bid of around £15 million for Rugani’s services, only to have it be turned down by Juventus, who are not interested in selling the Italy Under-21 international.
Rugani has yet to feature for Juve’s first-team and spent last season on loan at Empoli, making 38 appearances for the Italian club and scoring three goals along the way.
But after rejecting Arsenal offer for Rugani, it seems Massimiliano Allegri has the youngster in mind for the upcoming campaign.
It will be interesting to see if Wenger does decide to bring in a new centre-back this summer, with Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and Gabriel all in contention for a starting role.
In addition the Frenchman could also use Nacho Monreal and Mathieu Debuchy in this position as both have featured in this role in the past for Arsenal.
However, if Wenger is going to sign a defender this summer then the majority of the Arsenal faithful will want to see the Frenchman bring in an experienced one – one that can put pressure on the likes of Per and Kos.
Why can’t Wenger think of a striker?
