FlaminiMathieu Flamini could follow Lukas Podolski to Galatasaray, with the Turkish outfit set to hold talks with the French midfielder sometime next week.

The 31-year-old made just 21 starts in all competitions last season and looks to be behind Francis Coquelin in the pecking order following the 23-year-old’s impressive emergence.

As such, first-team opportunities will be hard to come by for Flamini this season, and with only a year left on his current deal the Emirates, the former AC Milan midfielder may well consider a switch to Galatasaray.

Turkish media outlet Sabah claims Gala representative Cenk Ergun is set to fly to London next week to hold talks with the Gunner about signing another of their players this summer.

Podolski made the switch to Turkey earlier in the window and could persuade Flamini to join him in Istanbul.

Flamini may not want to leave Arsenal this summer but if he stays then he will have to accept that he’ll be warming the bench more often than not.

We have a number of midfielders at our disposal and although his tenacity and work-rate would be missed, I believe offloading Flamini, who is valued at around £3 million, wouldn’t be viewed as a bad decision by Wenger and the club.
