Arsenal will have to fend off Manchester United if they are to land Barcelona starlet Oriol Busquets.
The 16-year-old defensive midfielder has recently signed a new three-year deal with the La Liga champions but Sport, as reported by the Daily Express, claim both Arsenal and United are keen to pursue a deal this summer.
Arsenal are thought to have made an offer but reports suggest United are preparing a more lucrative one.
Following an impressive season in the Barca academy, the teenager has been likened to Cesc Fabregas and Sergio Busquets.
Barcelona, however, are keen to hold on to Busquets, as they view the youngster as a potential star for the Catalan club.
But Arsenal have managed to prise many of Barca’s prodigies away from the Camp Nou in the past, beginning with Fabregas, then 16, 12 years ago.
Since then, Arsene Wenger has also managed to nab Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral from Barca’s youth academy.
Barca and Arsenal do have a good relationship when it comes to doing business and the temptation of joining Arsene Wenger’s side, especially after seeing what the Frenchman has done for Fabregas’ future and now unearthing Bellerin’s talent, may be too great for Busquets to refuse.
