BenzemaArsenal are ready to meet Karim Benzema’s asking-price of £17.8 million, according to reports in Spain.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of strikers this summer, as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of next season, and Benzema has been courted once again.

Wenger is believed to be a keen admirer of the French striker and has attempted to sign him in previous transfer windows, but to no avail.

However, Spanish publication Fichajes.net suggests Arsenal are no lining up an offer of £17.8 million, with Real Madrid ready to sell the 27-year-old.

Reports earlier in the week claimed Rafa Benitez is keen to sign Juventus’ Fernando Llorente and would be willing to sell Benzema to make way for the Spanish forward’s potential arrival.

Last season, Benzema netted 22 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions, and should the reports coming from Spain prove accurate then this is encouraging news for the Arsenal faithful.

However, I don’t believe £17.8 million will be enough to acquire a top striker like Benzema – the fee seems looks a little small for a player of his ability.
