pedroArsenal are set to re-ignite their interest in Pedro.

The Telegraph today suggests the Gunners have made contact with the player’s agent over a possible move this summer.

Despite the 27-year-old signing a new deal that expires in 2019 at the start of June, Pedro still has the tough task of dislodging one of Europe’s finest strikeforce in order to feature regularly for Barcelona next season.

Pedro cut a frustrated figure at the Camp Nou last season as he struggled to secure a starting role in Luis Enrique’s side. He made 15 starts for Barcelona in La Liga and managed 16 goals in a total of 55 appearances.

Arsene Wenger wants to strengthen his squad this summer as he targets domestic glory next season, and Pedro has been on the Frenchman’s radar for quite some time now. It is believed the Frenchman wants to add a new forward and the Spain international has the experience and technical ability needed to fit right into the Arsenal starting line-up.

However, chances of securing Pedro’s services appear very slim, unless the player demands a move.

Pedro’s loyalty to Barcelona is understandable having been at the club since the age of 17 and working his way up from the youth ranks. It would be extremely difficult for the Spaniard to depart the club he has grown up with, but surely the Spaniard knows he stands little chance of featuring regularly for the Catalan club next season? As such, if he is not willing to depart on a permanent basis, then why not attempt to sign him on loan instead? This way Arsenal get their man, while the player himself plays football next season and remains a Barca player.
