Would this £29M signing show we mean business?

|

AubameyangArsenal are preparing a £29 million bid for Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners are understood to be in the market for a new striker this summer to help out and challenge Olivier Giroud, and German newspaper Bild, according to talkSPORT.com today, claim they are lining up an offer for the 26-year-old Gabon international.

Arsene Wenger tracked and was keen to sign Aubameyang, but the forward decided to swap St Etienne for Dortmund in 2013.

Aubamenyang has impressed for Dortmund since his move, scoring 51 goals in 94 appearances in all competitions, and still has three years left to run on his existing deal at the Westfalenstadion.

It is believed the striker is happy to remain at Dortmund, but the German club could well be tempted to sell him this summer if Arsenal indeed table a £29 million offer, potentially trebling their money after signing him for just £10 million.

Aubameyang would be a great signing for Arsenal at £29 million. The man from Gabon has unbelievable technique and skill, and would certainly offer competition upfront.

However, he is a wide striker, one who likes to cut in and shoot, not a centre-forward, which I think Arsenal require more.

Still, if we manage to sign him then it would certainly show our rivals that we mean business next season, and we would possess one of the fastest forwards in Europe.

Would bringing in Aubameyang this summer show we mean business next season?

Arsenal need a wide forward more than a CF, the need for a CF is a media spin because Giroud doesn’t quiet do it for them.

Arsenal have Theo who will be given time as a CF next season and as such we will be short on a wide right player, a player who we can rely on to get over 20 goals a season.

If we look at it from the perspective of Theo being a CF then this signing makes perfect sense, we need a wide player who can keep up with Theo and someone who can score 20+ goals a season from out wide.

Theo can drop to either flank to allow the wide player to play as CF for periods, playing most of his career as a Right AM, the interplay between the front 3 could be a joy to watch.

Oh and add in how Ozil enjoys threading passes to players with pace, he would be in his prime having that trio around him.

Not exactly sure if it would be a good signing. There is a particular shortage of strikers for sale though but i dont think Aubameyang is what we need. I could be wrong tho..

I think we do need someone like Aubameyang in Arsenal as i am one of the level headed fans who believe we are better off with a wing struker than a CF. I think Theo and Giroud should compete fir the CF position, and Aubameyang(little sanchez) or even Sterling on the right wing. I dont know why we dont seem to be aggreesively pushing either. We shouldnt be thinking about a bid, by now we should be putting in a second bid or wrapping up business. We need the business of the day to be done before pre-season so so get the chemistry right before the league starts
