Would he be a ‘good fit’ for Arsenal?

Thierry Henry believes Jackson Martinez would be a good fit for Arsenal.

The 28-year-old is set to leave Porto this summer and Arsenal have been linked with a move for him.

Reports over the weekend suggested the Colombian forward was on his way to AC Milan, but the player’s agent rubbished these rumours, claiming Martinez has not decided where he will be playing his football next season.

Martinez has a £25 million buy-out clause and it is believed Arsene Wenger is willing to trigger this fee in order to bring the in-demand forward to the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal are understood to be in the market for a striker and Henry believes the Colombian international would be a ‘good fit’ for his former club, even though the Arsenal strikers had a decent season:

‘[Jackson Martinez] can be a good fit.

‘But you already have the likes of Giroud who looks a bit like him as a striker in the way they play, with their back to the goal.

‘He can be a good addition. He had a good season in the Champions League but you have guys already.

‘I think Giroud is more or less the same type of guy. I guess maybe Martinez is a bit more powerful and can run a bit more in behind but we’ll see what Arsene’s going to do.

‘Overall the Arsenal strikers didn’t do badly this season.’

Martinez may not be on top of every Arsenal fans’ list of strikers they want to see come in, but he would definitely be welcomed if he were to join us this summer.

With the creativity we possess in our team, I believe he would flourish at Arsenal and continue his fine goalscoring spree.

Martinez can be a good fit for Arsenal as Henry suggests – we just have to wait and see if he wants to join our club now.
