PodolskiLukas Podolski is edging closer out of the Emirates exit doors as the German confirms talks over a move to Galatasaray are in progress.

The 30-year-old forward spent the last half of last season out on loan to Inter and returned to Arsenal earlier in the month after the Serie A side were not interested in signing him on a permanent deal.

But Podolski doesn’t look to be in Arsene Wenger’s first-team plans this season, with the Frenchman ready to listen to offers.

And the German is now expected to complete a £2.3 million switch to Galatasaray after admitting he would ‘love’ to play for the Turkish outfit next season.

Quoted in the Daily Mirror, Podolski said:

‘Yes there have been meetings with Galatasaray. I hope the transfer happens.

‘I’d love to play at Galatasaray. The fans are great. They showed a great interest in me on social media.’

Although the German international is a fan favourite at Arsenal, he is clearly out-of-favour with Wenger and is also behind a number of players, including Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck, Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott, in the striking pecking order.

It will be sad to see him leave but it’s the right decision for both the club and player.
