Arsenal are frontrunners to sign Joe Gomez from Charlton this summer, according to reports.
The 18-year-old centre-back is expected to seal a move to the Premier League in the upcoming week claims the Daily Mail, and it is suggested the Gunners and Liverpool lead the race for his signature and are prepared to pay an initial £7 million rising to £9 million with add-ons.
Dortmund are also believed to be keen on Gomez, but the youngster has decided to stay in England, leaving the door open to a move to either Arsenal or Liverpool.
Gomez has impressed in his breakthrough season at Charlton, making a total of 24 appearances in all competitions.
The England Under-19 international is primarily a centre-back but can also operate in the right-back role as well.
Although Liverpool have a chance of sealing a deal for Gomez, Arsenal are in pole position, as the Gunners have a good working relationship with the Addicks, having loaned out Francis Coquelin last season and signed Carl Jenkinson from the London club in 2011.
If Arsenal manage to sign Gomez from Charlton this summer, then many would expect the teenager to be loaned out, possibly even back to his former club.
