Ezequiel GarayArsenal are interested in signing Ezequiel Garay from Zenit St. Petersburg, according to several reports.

The Argentine centre-back only joined the Russian club last summer from Benfica but is said to be a defensive option for Arsene Wenger to consider as the Frenchman looks to bolster his back-line this summer ahead of next season.

It is thought Wenger is searching for a possible replacement for Per Mertesacker, or perhaps even Laurent Koscielny, who is a £21 million target for Real Madrid, and could turn to Garay, who will cost around £13 million.

The 28-year-old is reportedly seeking a move to a more high-profile league in order to boost his chances of cementing his place in the Argentina team.

Garay has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past, 2008 to be exact, and has also been on United’s and Spurs’ radar previously as well.

Despite signing Gabriel from Villarreal in January, we still need another centre-back coming in this summer, not only to bolster our squad and give Wenger options, but to also partner Koscielny on a regular basis, as I believe Mertesacker’s better days are behind him.

Garay looks a good option for the Gunners this summer. He is a resolute defender who boasts loads of experience and is agile. He is also good in the air and holds his position well.

Garay wouldn’t be my first-choice centre-back to come in to Arsenal this summer, but, for £13 million, he offers good value for money and would do well for us.

Would Garay be a good signing at £13 million?
