Why run the risk with him, Wenger?

theo walcottArsene Wenger will NOT sell Theo Walcott this summer, even if he cannot agree a new contract by this time, but could consider doing so in December – does this make any sense?

The England international is entering his final year at the Emirates and despite Wenger confirming talks are underway, nothing has yet been agreed. As a result, it’s been mooted that Arsenal will look to sell Walcott at the end of the season to avoid losing him on a free next year.

Should a deal not be agreed by the player and the club then he could begin negotiating with overseas clubs about a potential move from January – only then will Wenger consider offloading him:

‘I want him to stay, when you go into negotiations with a player it is with a desire for him to stay.

‘He looks keen to do it and I am keen to do it, so let’s see what comes out.

‘The focus is on what you do in case of failure. We are always in the mode where we want to be successful.

‘In case of failure, we’ll see but in case of failure – that will only be in December.’

Why is Wenger running the risk of potentially losing Walcott on a free?

What is the point of seeing if the winger will agree a new contract before the end of the summer before making a decision?

I believe the Frenchman should put a time cap or date on this whole thing. If Walcott fails to agree by a specified date (preferably before the summer window closes) then Wenger should sell him and move on.

Walcott has made just 16 appearances in all competitions for us this season, with his last start coming against Monaco on March 17th. Now fit, Walcott still remains on the bench and even Aaron Ramsey is preferred out wide by Wenger!

I think Wenger should make a decision on the matter sooner rather than later and not get caught up in another contract saga with a player he clearly doesn’t see as a regular.

Im sure the many contract negotiations you have completed with football players and their agents qualifies you to write such garbage. There is a little more to it than a player picking up a pen. Everybody thinks they could do wengers job better than him from their bedroom.
