The 18-year-old recently signed a new deal at Benfica until 2021 and according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, as reported by talkSPORT.com on Friday, there is a release-clause in his new deal of £40 million which Benfica have inserted in an attempt to warn off interested clubs for the highly-rated winger.
Due to his trickery versatility upfront and pace, Guedes has already been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo, and it is suggested that Arsene Wenger has already sent scouts to watch the teenager in action.
The Portugal Under-19 international has yet to feature for Benfica in the league but has featured for the Eagles in cup competitions. He has also netted seven goals and 13 assists in 27 appearances for the Benfica B team.
But should Arsenal pay £40 million for Guedes? Not a chance.
No matter his potential and current ability, such a fee for a player of 18 is just ludicrous, and I would also be willing to put my savings on Arsenal not stumping up the money for the Portuguese youngster this summer.
