juanfranJuanfran has today revealed that he TWICE turned down a move to Arsenal.

The 30-year-old right-back began his career with Real Madrid before joining local rivals Atletico in 2011 and was reportedly on Arsene Wenger’s shopping list last summer.

However, the Frenchman opted to fork out £12 million to bring in Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle, which unfortunately hasn’t gone to plan as the experienced defender has spent the majority of the campaign in the treatment room.

But while Wenger was in fact interested in Juanfran’s services, the Spaniard rejected the lure of the Frenchman twice and remained at the Vicente Calderon.

Juanfran told Radio Marca, as quoted in the Daily Star:

‘I know where I am. Atletico have pushed for me to stay.

‘I rejected two offers from Arsenal. It’s what I feel.’

Needless to say, Juanfran would have been an ideal signing for our club, but Debuchy is just as good – it’s just a shame he’s been injured for long periods of the season. We also have Hector Bellerin who looks to have serious potential and a bright future ahead of him. So everything worked out in the end.
