CarrascoArsene Wenger wants to sign Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, the Monaco midfielder who helped the Ligue 1 side knock Arsenal out of the Champions League.

Wenger was impressed with the winger’s displays against the Gunners over the two legs – where he bagged Monaco’s third in the 3-1 win at the Emirates last month – with the Frenchman, according to the Metro, requesting club officials to sign the 21-year-old Belgian this summer.

It is thought Wenger will keep tabs on Carrasco from now until the end of the season and should he receive good feedback from his scouts, then the Gunners will test Monaco’s resolve this summer.

Carrasco has featured regularly for Monaco this season, making 41 appearances (31 as a starter) and contributing six goals and seven assists along the way.

The Belgian Under-21 international still has over four-years left to run on his existing deal at the Stade Louis II, so any offer for him from Arsenal will have to be one that Monaco can’t refuse.

i wonder who he told. perhaps the player himself. surprising really considering we have over 6 wingers, including walcot, orzil, ramsey, carzola, welbeck , rosicky, sanchez, not forgetting knabry

Is that what Arsenal really need?
