Chuba AkpomChuba Akpom is on the verge of sealing a rest-of-the-season loan move to Norwich City, according to yesterday’s Mirror.

The 19-year-old forward is attracting interest from a number of Championship sides but it is thought that the Canaries lead the race for his signature.

Akpom has made season appearances for Arsenal so far this season, all coming from the bench, but hasn’t featured since the club’s FA Cup win over Middlesbrough last month.

The England Under-20 international recently signed a new long-term deal to remain at the Emirates, after reports suggested Dortmund were keen to sign him.

But due to a lack of game time and rank in the pecking order, Arsene Wenger is willing to let him go out on loan to gain further first-team experience.

Akpom has had loan spells in recent seasons at Brentford when they were in League One and Coventry City last season.

Derby, Bournemouth, Ipswich and newly Nottingham Forest are all thought to be interested in the young forward.

So taking into account his lack of game time, would a loan move away be beneficial for Akpom?

Well he may like the idea of playing elsewhere, but he has to realise that he won’t be featuring much for us from now until the end of the season. So the best thing for him to do is go somewhere (like Norwich) where he will be playing more regularly, come back in the summer and see what Wenger has in store for him.
