aleksandar mitrovicWe still have just under two months left before this season comes to an end, but already Arsenal are being linked with a number of potential signings when the summer transfer window opens.

Over the weekend, Aleksandar Mitrovic was the newest name to be linked with a move to Arsenal, with some reports suggesting a £10 million bid is being lined up.

The 20-year-old Anderlecht striker is being chased by several European teams according to his agent, who also admits his client could leave the Belgian outfit this summer.

Prior to the Portugal Serbia game last night, in which Mitrovic took part in, Nenad Jestrovic said:

‘Several teams are interested, but there is nothing concrete.

‘I will be in Lisbon, together with the father of Aleksandar for the international match between Portugal and Serbia. There we will also be talk about the future of Aleksandar.’

He finished off by saying:

‘The way he plays now, he’s earned a transfer to one of the top leagues. But I also do not rule out that he will remain for another year at Anderlecht. We will extend his career patiently.’

Although contracted to Anderlecht until 2018, it is believed Newcastle, Chelsea, Juventus, Porto, Benfica and Arsenal are just a few sides interested in Mitrovic, who has been in impressive form this season, scoring 20 goals in 37 outings in all competitions so far.

Arsenal could well do with another proven forward coming in this summer, with Olivier Giroud being our only recognised centre-forward.

Indeed, the Serbian international boasts notable stats for Anderlecht and looks a decent player in fairness, but the Premier League is a far superior to that of the Belgian league, meaning he could struggle to settle in England. Some may see it as a gamble to bring in a player from the Belgian league and I’m sure Arsene Wenger will consider this before getting his cheque book out.
