Arsene WengerArsenal defeated Everton on Sunday which saw them pick up another three points and are now four behind second placed Manchester City – who lost to Liverpool on the same day – and nine adrift of Premier league leaders Chelsea, who have a game in hand.

The Gunners have been on a roll since their derby defeat to Spurs back in early February, winning four of their last five games in all competitions. Confidence is high and there is real belief among the players and fans that they can topple City and claim the runners-up position – some may even think that the title is still not out of reach with 11 games still yet to play.

However, Arsene Wenger doesn’t believe so, claiming his side are ‘nowhere near’ winning the title, nor being in the race.

Even with a strong run of form and results, the Frenchman feels a push for the title is not feasible:

‘At the moment we are nowhere near to winning the Premier League, and nowhere near close to being in the race.

‘But what we want is to do as well as we can without speculating on the weakness of any team. The only thing you can say is that it’s very tight.

‘You look in front of you, Manchester City are four points ahead of us, and you look behind you, there’s plenty of people chasing us.

‘That will be very, very tight and it will be down to consistency in our results and mental strength. That will certainly be needed again on Wednesday night.’

He added:

‘At the moment we are too far from Chelsea to say we are in the title race, but you never know what can happen.’

Plenty of points still to play for, but I just can’t see Chelsea slipping up. I think we have a real chance of finishing runners-up, however, because City reeling.
