With all the speculation circulating around Theo Walcott’s contract saga once again, it seems Arsenal are putting a contingency plan in to place – just in case the England international decides not to put pen to paper on a new deal – by keeping tabs on Newcastle winger Rolando Aarons.
It appears Newcastle have put contract talks on hold with the 19-year-old, which has alerted the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal, according to the Mirror.
Like Walcott, Aarons only has a year left to run on his existing deal.
Newcastle are confident that they can get the England Under-20 international to commit his long-term future to the club, with talks set to start over the summer.
However, knowing he is a wanted man, Aarons could decide to jump ship and hone his skills elsewhere.
The Gunners were linked with a January move for Aarons and could step up their interest in him at the end of the season.
