Petr CechArsenal have been given a boost in their reported pursuit of Petr Cech after he hinted he wants to leave Chelsea in the summer.

The 32-year-old has spent the majority of the season looking on from the bench, playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois, and has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge because of this.

He has made just 14 appearances for Chelsea this season and with Jose Mourinho reluctant to play him, Cech is now considering his future at the club.

Cech joined Chelsea in 2004 and has made 484 appearances for the Blues but has hinted that he is willing to leave in order to secure regular first-team football:

‘I don’t know what the club’s idea will be. It looks like it works well with me and Thibaut as a duo.

‘But that can work for one season only. I don’t want another one like this.’

After Wojciech Szczesny’s smoking debacle was revealed, Arsenal have been linked a few goalkeepers, with Cech being one of them.

And the Czech international has not ruled out a move to another Premier League club this summer:

‘There always will be speculation, I leave it for the summer.

‘It will be important to sit down with the club, with the manager, to consider all the pros and cons. We will see what will work out the best.’

Cech has just over one-year left on his existing deal at the Bridge, meaning Chelsea can profit by offloading him, or risk losing him on a free at the end of next season.

Arsenal have rarely done business with Chelsea in the transfer windows, with Ashley Cole being the stand out deal, so it remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger can convince Mourinho to sell to the Gunners. It doesn’t look likely, I must say, but money talks so there is some hope.
