ClickWengerHaving beaten Newcastle 2-1 at St. James’ Park yesterday afternoon, Arsene Wenger was asked how many points he needs to pick up in the last eight games of the Premier League campaign to assure his side finish in the top four once again.

The Gunners have always qualified for the Champions League under Wenger, but the Frenchman has refused to set Arsenal a points target for the remainder of the season, insisting he just wants to keep on winning:

‘We want to finish as high as we can, we have 60 points with eight games to go.

‘If you look at the points we have taken in the last three months, it has been outstanding.

‘So we just want to win and win and win.’

Their win over the Magpies leave themselves just four points behind league leaders Chelsea, who have two games in hand, one behind Manchester City (61) and four in front of United, who play fifth place Liverpool this afternoon.

It’s one of the closest top four races I can remember, with City, United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Southampton all vying for a Champions League berth. Anything can happen from now until the end of the season, and having looked at the fixtures remaining from all six sides, I believe Arsenal need to clear the 71 point mark to achieve another top four finish.

Call me optimistic, but I believe the table will end up like this:

1. Chelsea – 84

2. Arsenal – 78

3. City – 76

4. Liverpool – 73

5. United – 70

6. Southampton – 70

7. Spurs – 69

But as Wenger said we just need to keep on winning, and if we do that then we will be playing Champions League football next season.

How many points do Arsenal need to pick up from now until the end of the season to finish in the top four?

Arsenal will undoubtedly win all their remaining possible 10 games, 8 Barclays Premier League games and 2 FA Cup games to become this season Treble Champions of England. I think that said, has put a finalty to the doubts.

Arsenal is in a good position to compete for the top position in the PL. However they need to maintain a winning consistency in the remainder of the season, but should be weary of injuries while fighting to the finish. GOOD LUCK GUNNERS.

Yes! Arsenal can win d league, if Chelsea n man city slip or possibly 2nd.But Wenger n d players should be careful becos they played infant football against man.u n Chelsea whenever gunners needed d 3pt. to keep their lives on. If arsenal mess up in che, man u and Liverpool games 5th position will be knocking at Wenger’s door. And this will give birth to crisis between d management,Wenger and d fans at d end of d season.
