According to Bild, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb, Arsenal are interested in Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
The 22-year-old German has made 29 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit and is highly-rated by Bayer Leverkusen and in his homeland.
Arsene Wenger is believed to be keen to add a goalkeeper to his squad at the end of the season despite having Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina on the books at the Emirates, and has identified Leno as a potential candidate.
Leno still has three-and-a-half years left to run on his existing deal at the Veltins-Arena and is currently valued at around the £14 million mark by Transfermarkt.com.
But would the German be an ideal acquisition for the Gunners this summer?
Leno is known for his quick reflexes, bravery and is a typical shot-stopper – he is a decent young goalkeeper who can only get better as time passes by.
However, I don’t think he could offer improve our goalkeeping ‘problem’ or anything different to our side. His age would also cause a bit of a stir between fans as many of them would rather see an experienced goalkeeper to come into the squad this summer.
So for me, I would give Leno a swerve and target a goalkeeper who can come in and pass on experience to Szczesny and Ospina.
