ClickWenger26 days into the January transfer window and Arsenal have already snapped up two new signings…well sort of. Arsene Wenger brought in 17-year-old Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw for a fee between £2-3 million and are on the verge of signing Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal for around £13 million. So far so good. Wenger stated he wanted to bring at least two new faces in before the window closed and the Frenchman has delivered. But he’s not stopping there, with the boss claiming the club are still on the hunt for more signings.

Before the winter window opened, Arsenal fans were crying out for defensive reinforcement, both in the back-line and in the midfield department, and Wenger has duly answered their calls. It seems the Frenchman has achieved what he’s set out this January and recalling Francis Coquelin back from Charlton proved to be a wise move all round.

With this being said and Wenger still wanting to strengthen his squad before the end of the month, what areas should he look to improve?

Personally, I believe a striker could be added, if anything. Wenger sent Lukas Podolski, Yaya Sanogo and newly Joel Campbell to Inter Milan, Crystal Palace and Villarreal respectively, leaving us with only Olivier Giroud as an accomplished centre-forward – Theo Waclott, Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez can play in this position but are all more effective on the wing rather than leading the attack on their lonesome. So signing a striker would be beneficial and give Wenger more options in the latter stages of the season.

I feel coqeulin’s performances negates the need for a defensive midfielder. His stats in this position are higher in every category across the board than any other player in the league, if he can maintain these impressive numbers then we could be looking at the next Macherano. Cavani would make this team the perfect 11 as our back 4 is among the best in the league when all 4 1st teamers start together.

Hoping that Coquelin puts pen to paper, the next immediate spending ought to be a lethal striker. Like to see T Henry work a bit with Welbeck n Akpom.

I know Wenger is all about saving money. How about Lacazette – Robert Pires choice. That way Arsenal fans has someone else to blame apart from Wenger. Benzema never wanted to come to Arsenal, he might turn out to be a prima dona.
