Lars BenderDietmar Hamann recently told Arsene Wenger to end his interest in Ilkay Gundogan and attempt to sign one of the Bender brothers instead.

Should Wenger heed Hamann’s advice?

The ex-Liverpool midfielder was quoted in by the Daily Mirror saying Wenger, who appears keen to bring in another midfielder this month due to the extent of Mikel Arteta’s and Jack Wilshere’s injuries, would be wasting his time trying to bring in the Dortmund midfielder, labelling the 24-year-old as a ‘typical Arsenal player’.

Hamann believes Wenger has a number of players of a similar ilk to Gundogan – a player who likes to pass the ball and create – and would be better off bringing in a more defensive-minded midfielder.

‘There are players out there, who would instantly make Arsenal a better team.

‘They are supposed to be looking at Ilkay Gundogan at Borussia Dortmund. He’s a very good footballer – but he is a typical Arsenal player. He won’t want to do the dirty work. His instinct is to join in further up the pitch, get a few forward passes going and try to weigh in with a few goals.’

He finished off by saying:

‘For me, Arsenal would be much better served going for one of the Bender brothers, especially Lars.’

‘Either of those boys would give Wenger something he hasn’t got in midfield. Someone who can read the game, is naturally defensively minded and who will thrive operating in front of the back four, making sure Arsenal don’t get exposed.’

Both of the Bender brothers have been linked with a move to the Emirates in the past, but it turned out to be nothing more than rumours and speculation.

But would either one of the Bender brothers be a better option for the Frenchman to consider rather than brining in the highly-rated Gundogan?

Ah, the Bender twins. What a long story of Arsene trying to snub Lars. I believe it’s change at last. Lars lost his chance to lift up his carrier. Now we’re looking for Schneiderlin, Carvalho and else. Bye bye Benders.
