ClickWengerArsene Wenger has raised our hopes of see a new centre-back arriving this month after admitting it would be a risk going through the remainder of the season without reinforcing the defence.

The Gunners are short of options at the back after learning Mathieu Debuchy is out for another three months with a dislocated shoulder, and Wenger appears keen to find cover for Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Calum Chambers.

Wenger told The Sun:

‘We have Chambers, Mertesacker and Koscielny.

‘But we have now lost Debuchy, who could play centre-back.’

He added:

‘Kieran Gibbs as well has been out. Of course, if we have another injury or two we will struggle.

‘It’s risky. It’s too risky.’

Wenger went on to say Arsenal are a ‘big attraction’ but also conceded not many clubs would want to sell their best players, especially a centre-back in the middle of the season.

So the question now is, which centre-back should Wenger attempt to sign before the transfer window shuts?

Loads of names have been linked with a move to the Emirates already this month, but we want your views and thoughts on who you think would be a good signing to provide cover for Koscielny and co. in the comments section below.
