GrosskreutzArsenal have launched a £3.7 million bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Kevin Grosskreutz.

Arsene Wenger has stated recently that he wants to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month and reports suggest the Frenchman has approached Dortmund for the German’s signature.

The 26-year-old has still has 18 months left to run on his current deal at the Westfalenstadion, but with the club fighting to stay in the Bundesliga, Grosskreutz, who is said to be a boyhood Arsenal fan, could well jump ship and be open to a move to the Emirates.

Arsenal have already signed youngster Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw and are on the verge of landing versatile defender Gabriel Paulista, but Wenger has made it clear he wants at least two new faces, not ruling out possibly a third or even a fourth.

Grosskreutz signed for Dortmund in 2009 from Ahlen and has been a regular for Jurgen Klopp’s side – he has made 21 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

Primarily a left-winger, the five time capped German can also play in the centre of midfield and at right-back, and Wenger has been able to have a good look at him first hand after Grosskreutz started both Champions League games between the two sides earlier in the season.

According to Transfermarkt, Grosskreutz is valued at £8.8 million, so Arsenal’s initial £3.7 million bid is likely to be turned down by Dortmund.
