bielikArsene Wenger has sent scouts to watch Legia Warsaw’s Krystian Bielik as a potential defensive recruit.

Arsenal have suffered defensively this season which has led to the Arsenal fans and several legends calling on Wenger to strengthen this department when the January transfer window opens.

A number of experienced names have been mentioned over the past few weeks but Wenger appears to be keeping his options open and is, according to the Daily Mail, considering a move for 16-year-old Bielik.

The Poland Under-16 international has broken into Legia Warsaw’s first-team this season, making four appearances so far, and is also a transfer target for Everton.

And although the defender is contracted to Legia until 2017, Bielik would find it extremely hard to resist a move to Arsenal next month if Wenger decides to take his interest to the next level.

The news of Wenger targeting a youngster rather than a seasoned head to add depth and strengthen the side’s defence will certainly not go down well with the Emirates faithful. And should Bielik be the only defensive recruit to come in this January, especially with other options available, then Wenger has to deal with what will be thrown at him (not literally mind you).
