RomuloArsenal are going to reignite their interest in Spartak Moscow midfielder Romulo in January, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsene Wenger was tracking the 24-year-old Brazilian last year but was unable to make a move happen. However, Romulo’s agent has recently made contact with Arsenal in hope of pushing through a move when the January transfer window opens in a few weeks.

The Gunners will have to fend off both Flamengo and Internacional if they want to sign him on a permanent deal, with the Brazilian clubs wanting him on loan.

Spartak will want around £10 million for Romulo, but will lower their asking price by £2 million if Arsenal lend Yaya Sanogo to the Russian side for the remainder of the season.

However, Sanogo, who has had a mixed reception from the Arsenal faithful since joining them from Auxerre on a free in 2013, will not be keen on a move to Moscow as he recently claimed he wants to prove his worth at the Emirates.

Arsenal fans have been calling on Wenger to add a defensive midfielder to the side and Romulo is known for his tough tackling and organisational abilities in the middle of the park. The Brazilian also likes to initiate attacks from deep and has a high work-rate – something which we have been craving for in recent seasons.

If Sanogo isn’t keen on going to Moscow, then Wenger should just fork out the £10 million for Romulo and be done with it.
