Here are my Arsenal player ratings from this evening’s 2-1 win over Harry Redknapp’s QPR at the Emirates:
Wojciech Szczesny – Possibly one of the easiest games he has every played in. Was never really tested throughout. 7/10
Mathieu Debuchy – Was back in his regular spot at right-back and delivered some lovely balls into the box early on. Conceded a dubious penalty which Charlie Austin converted. 6.5/10
Per Mertesacker – Positioned well throughout and won every aerial battle he was involved in. 7/10
Nacho Monreal – Was preferred over Chambers to sit alongside Per and to be fair to the Spaniard, he did well. Was composed on the ball and dealt with what was thrown at him. 6.5/10
Kieran Gibbs – Got forward well and handled the threat of Eduardo Vargas adequately. 6/10
Mathieu Flamini – Amazingly, never picked up a yellow card! Got stuck in and kept his position superbly. 6/10
Santi Cazorla – Misplaced a few passes early on but rectified this as the game went on. Found pockets in between QPR’s defence and frontline and attempted to create chances. 6.5/10
Tomas Rosicky – Scored his first Premier League goal on his first Premier League start. Was creative throughout and always wanted the ball. 7.5/10
Danny Welbeck – Did a lot of running and his off-ball movement was decent. Never threatened QPR’s defence though and failed to find the back of the net once again. 5/10
Alexis Sanchez – Should be the face of Duracell batteries as the Chilean just doesn’t stop working. Opened the scoring with a great header before winning and missing a penalty. 8/10
Olivier Giroud – A moment of madness from the French forward saw him receive a red card after a headbutt incident – summed up his performance this evening. 3/10
SUBS:
Calum Chambers – Replaced Rosicky in the 82nd minute to hold Arsenal’s lead. Strengthened our defence in terms of numbers. 5/10
Francis Coquelin – Came on for Welbeck late on and received a yellow card. N/A
