Carl JenkinsonArsenal are willing to sell Carl Jenkinson if his £8 million asking price is met, reports the Daily Star.

The 22-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at West Ham and has produced several impressive performances for the East London club.

Sam Allardyce is believed to be a keen admirer of the England right-back but is unlikely to stump up Arsenal’s asking price to land him on a permanent deal.

Jenkinson arrived at the Emirates from Charlton for around £1 million in 2011 and has made 55 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions thus far. However, the majority of these outings have come from the bench as the young defender had to play second fiddle to then right-back Bacary Sagna.

Sagna left to join Manchester City over the summer and many thought Jenkinson would replace the Frenchman at right-back this season, but this didn’t prove to be the case. Instead, Arsene Wenger signed Calum Chambers from Southampton and Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle and temporarily lent Jenkinson to West Ham.

Jenkinson’s future at the Emirates now looks to be in doubt, even more so after the Gunners slapped an asking price on him.

It would be great to see Jenkinson back at the club challenging for a starting berth after the current season ends, but it’s hard to see it happen at the moment.
