KramerWith the January transfer window set to open in 11 days, a number of names will be linked with a move to the Emirates. Several have already been ‘targeted’ by Arsene Wenger, who is prepared to strengthen over the winter period if the right deal comes along, and the latest is Germany international Christoph Kramer.

The Daily Mail suggests that the Gunners are readying a £20 million move for the defensive midfielder, even though Bayer Leverkusen are reluctant to sell.

Kramer is currently on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach but is thought to be on Wenger’s list as the Frenchman wants to shore up his midfield.

A lot has been spoken about Arsenal’s defensive frailties this season and fans and pundits alike have been calling on Wenger to solve the problem when the January transfer window opens.

However, Wenger doesn’t want to be forced into panic buying and would rather pursue a player who he believes can do a job for his side.

But acquiring Kramer from Monchengladbach could prove difficult as Leverkusen loaned out the German in 2013 on a two-season deal.

His progression has been impressive, so much so that he not only travelled to Brazil but also started the World Cup final for Germany.

Kramer signed for Leverkusen in 2011 but has yet to make a single first-team appearance for the Bundesliga outfit, spending two seasons on loan at Vfl Bochum and now at Monchengladbach.

Despite Leverkusen wanting him back at the club at the end of the season, they may decide to sell or loan him out once again if history is anything to go by. With that being said, the German club may consider offloading him and will listen to offers that exceed the £25 million mark.
