Ex-Gunner reveals who he believes Wenger should ‘go for’

With the January transfer window a few days away, everyone is eager to know who Arsene Wenger will bring in.

Every Arsenal fan has an opinion on the matter and a list of players they would like to see join the club next month.

Certain areas of the squad need bolstering, in particular the defence, and I personally believe a defensive midfielder needs to be added as well with Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere struggling with injuries this season.

A number of names have already been linked with a move to the Emirates this winter, and ex-Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes they must strengthen if the Gunners want to improve their chances of finishing in the top four season.

But there was one player in particular that Parlour thinks Wenger must get his hands on and one who the Frenchman should steer clear of:

‘Winston Reid has been mentioned, but I’m not sure he’s the winner and a good player.

‘For midfield, I would go for (Morgan) Schneiderlin if you can get him. He’s at a good age. Lots of players are linked.’

He added:

‘(Sami) Khedira would have been great. Players that have played in big games won’t be phased by anything. Schneiderlin hasn’t, but I can see him improving.’

For me, Reid isn’t Arsenal standard and although Sami Khedira would be a great signing, the German is not the type of midfielder we need

As for Schneiderlin, I think the France international has the potential and ability to become a big player in the future, one who would settle well at the Emirates – should we sign him of course.
