Petr CechDavid Seaman has urged Arsene Wenger not to make an offer to Chelsea for Petr Cech.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper has been linked with a move to the Emirates after losing his place in the side to Thibaut Courtois this season, with reports suggesting the Gunners are preparing a £7 million bid for the Czech.

In addition, Courtois also said last week that he if he was in Cech’s position then he would seriously consider leaving Chelsea in search of regular games.

Wenger signed David Ospina over the summer from Nice, but the Colombian has failed to offer Wojciech Szczesny, who only recently signed a new and improved £20.8 million, competition this season.

Cech currently takes home around £120,000-a-week but his present deal at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season, and Wenger, who has shown an interest in the experienced goalkeeper in the past, sees him as an ideal competitor for Szczesny’s spot in the side.

However, Seaman believes Wenger should continue to keep faith in the brash Pole and forget signing Cech altogether.

Seaman told talkSPORT:

‘Wojciech is coming off his best season last season with Arsenal and I don’t think that anybody warrants taking his place because he is not making mistakes.

‘Arsenal are conceding goals, but it is not through goalkeeping errors that they are conceding.’

So, do you think Arsenal should shelve their interest in Cech, or would he make a good addition to the side?
