Grzegorz KrychowiakArsenal are ready to make an £18 million move for Polish midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak.

The 24-year-old has been earning rave reviews since joining Sevilla from Reims five months ago and, according to reports in Spain as claimed by the Daily Star, Arsene Wenger is preparing to make a move for Krychowiak as he looks to strengthen the defensive side of his midfield.

Krychowiak, who has won 22 caps for Poland so far, has featured 15 times for Sevilla this season, earning four man of the match awards already, and has become a regular for the La Liga side.

Wenger has promised to bring in new faces this January, after admitting he should have brought at least an extra body over the summer at the club’s AGM meeting last month, and believes the defensive midfield position is one he must strengthen to change Arsenal’s fortune.

Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are Wenger’s only two options in this position currently, but the former has struggled with injuries and the latter is prone to mistakes on occasions and is not seen as a regular by the manager.

Krychiowak’s potential arrival would add competition in the anchorman position and at 24, would be a regular for seasons to come.

However, this proposed move already poses a few stumbling blocks. The first being that the Pole only signed for Sevilla five months ago and still has four years left to run on his existing deal. As a result of this, Sevilla will only consider offloading the midfielder if the receive an offer they can’t refuse. Still, Wenger managed to pull off the signings of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in consecutive summers and could pull off another big move by acquiring Krychowiak.
