And that’s why we will NEVER win the Champions League

Arsene WengerI’m still in shock at what I saw at the Emirates last night, and I can also say without a shadow of a doubt that Arsenal will NEVER win the Champions League.

How we managed to only come out with a point form last night’s game against Anderlecht is beyond belief. The Gunners were firmly in control at 3-0 and with around 30-35 minutes left to play, the three points were all but ours and so was qualification into the knockout stages of the competition.

However, Arsene Wenger and co. (not for the first time) managed to screw it up and make us a laughing stock of Europe and of our workplace.

Although it was a horrible, horrible result, Arsenal WILL qualify to the last 16, but that’s (possibly) as far as our journey into the completion ends because we WILL claim (once again) runners-up spot behind Dortmund, meaning we WILL face one of Europe’s big guns in the next round. And if last night was anything to go by then we will face disappointment.

Why will we never win the Champions League you ask? Simply because we are not good enough, nor does Wenger have any tactical wit about him. Add to that the existence of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, we don’t have a bloody chance!

This is not just a knee-jerk reaction to last night’s result, but you can see that although we have some very good players, Wenger cannot lead them to European glory due to his inability to see out games comfortable and adapt when required.

No other team, or should I say manager, would have lost that game from the position we were in, not Chelsea, not City, not United, not even (dare I say) the Spuds.

We will qualify, but what’s the point of finishing second only to get battered in the next round?

Champions League is vital to our club as it draws the money in as well as world-class players, but it’s about high-time that we got serious about this competition. We are fed up (well I am anyway) of always finishing in the top four only to obtain Champions League football and not get far.

One final in the past 16-17 years is not acceptable for a club like Arsenal, and as much as I would love to see Wenger lead our side to the trophy, personally, I don’t think the Frenchman ever will. As long as Wenger remains in charge we will never see the big-eared cup in our trophy cabinet – we’ve got the players, but the manager seems lost and out of ideas.

We have one good player and that is Alexis Sanchez and we ought to enjoy that before we sell him off to Man City.

I don’t want to keep repeating myself but the source of all our problems lies with Arsene Wenger. To be so blind and naive to actually BELIEVE that we could go through an entire season encompassing the premier league, Europe and the cups with just TWO recognised centre backs is an act of managerial negligence.

Wenger is an idiot, an arrogant, deluded idiot and Merson’s rant last night about tactical cluelessness was directed at Wenger.

If he stays on for another two years after this season then we either should either write both of them off or ask the club the reduce ticket prices by fifty per cent, because it is unreasonable to expect fans to pay so much money to watch such garbage, and it is garbage…

The day Wenger will leave the club is the day Arsenal will reach CL finals or win the CL trophy. For now , he is too old to see the light and what is right for the team

  • Get real says:

The day wenger leaves is the day we finish below spurs.

There was Arsenal before Wenger and there will be an Arsenal after Wenger. Is your ambition only for us to finish 4th above spurs every season? What a sad state of affair to accept this from a club that used to compete to be the best.

A lot of fans have clearly been brainwashed to accept 4th as an achievement and are content with the repeated rubbish the manager says and does season after season. Time for change and it will soon happen whether you like it or not.

“No other team, or should I say Manager, would lose a game from that position…” Ancelotti’s Milan did. In a final. They won the Champions League 2 years later.

Arsenal may never win the CL under Wenger, or anyone else – that’s a fact. But not because of last night. But because it’s fucking difficult.

Bore of over the top, lazy “commentary”. Get a grip. It was shit. End of. Munich have done worse, Milan has done worse. It happens. It’s football.

Wenger is seen as mr.arsenal.well, i think that the man only cares about himself otherwise he would have left long time ago . Starting this season with just 2 cb and only one recognized dm is the mother of all foolishness.the man lost everything he knew if he ever had known anything.

i think it is high time tha Arsenal board started forcing players on Mr Wenger or let him quietly resign at the end of the season. I am tired of the same story every year and Wenger never make amend. How can he sell Vermalen without replacing him. We have been complaining of lack of world class defensive mid fielder and up till now Wenger has done nothing about that. Sincerely speaking, Flamini and Arteta has pass their peak. Am tired of every year 4th in England and second round exit in ucl

As long as Wenger is manager,Arsenal will never win cl. His one dimensional style is easy to counter.Don’t be surprised,he will lose to Swansea.I have lost all faith in him.
