Sebastian GiovincoThe Daily Express reported over the weekend that Arsenal have held talks with both Marseille and Juventus over signing Andre Pierre Gignac and Sebastien Giovinco in January.

Both forwards are out of contract at the end of the season, and Arsene Wenger apparently wants to sign one of the two to bolster his attacking options for the second-half of the season.

It is thought that Gignac, who has netted an impressive nine goals in as many matches, is Wenger’s preferred choice, with the striker also considering his future at Marseille.

Giovinco also remains an option for Wenger with the Italian falling behind Fernando Llorente, Carlos Tevez and new boy Alvaro Morata in the pecking order.

But although Giovinco can play as upfront, his natural position is operating just off the main forward.

But would either be a welcomed addition to the Arsenal fold?

I don’t think we need another attacking midfielder coming in to the squad, so Giovinco for me wouldn’t be a worthwhile signing, even though he is a very decent footballer.

As for Gignac, I think he would struggle with the pace of the Premier League and is a very similar type of striker to that of Olivier Giroud.

In addition, we recruited Danny Welbeck and still have Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell to call upon, so bringing in the 28-year-old France international seems pointless in a way.

Wenger should let fans hearts rest by signing players who are coming 2 asure us of cup glories, Not always B players who are looking 4 giant clubs acomodation.
