PodolskiArsene Wenger has dismissed rumours claiming Lukas Podolski is on his way out of Arsenal this January, with the Frenchman insisting that the German forward is still very much in his plans…really?

The 29-year-old has struggled to cement a regular first-team role since arrival from FC Koln two years ago and has become no more than a bit-part player at the Emirates, having started none of the club’s Premier League or Champions League matches so far this season.

His omission from the starting XI has led to increased speculation that he will be packing his bags in search for a new club when the winter window opens.

But despite his limited appearances for the Gunners, Podolski still remains a key member of Wenger’s squad.

When asked about the future of Podolski, the Frenchman said:

‘It is quite simple – there is no transfer market at the moment. When there is no transfer market, you are all on board – or not on board. It is like that.

‘This is a job where you can only be successful if you’re fully committed. You cannot be half in and half out – so all this transfer speculation is not considered at all.

‘We are all on board to get results – and Podolski will be part of that.’

It almost seems with the injuries Arsenal currently have that Wenger cannot afford to lose the services of Podolski, or anyone for that matter. Even if he wanted to let him go, the Frenchman couldn’t as he would be even shorter of options upfront and will need as many players available as possible as we approach the busy part of the season.
